Dhriti - The new artist on the block

This is Dhriti practising her drawing skills. This is her latest fad and she fills in books after books with her abstract drawings. Sorry for the poor quality of the picture. This was taken with my mobile phone.

She loves to draw ducks and she is really good at it. Not really...she draws any random shape and calls it a duck. She will then point to the drawing and asks us what it is. Ofcourse, we tell her that it is indeed a duck.

I plan to stack away all of her paintings and sell them (and make lots and lots of money) when she becomes a very renowned painter. I can tell everyone that these were from her "early years". Good idea right? :-)

Microsoft has released Windows Live Writer (Beta) for blogging.  This is my first post using this tool and so far it looks good.  It has Office kinda look and feel. So if you are a windows user, it shoud not take long to get started.

You can download it from here and try out.

Jonathan Schwartz

Do you know SUN is the only Fortune 500 company with a CEO that blogs? Jonathan has been blogging for quite some time. He took over as SUN's CEO in April this year from the legendary Scott McNealy. This guy is cool, young and eager to change things at SUN. This, ofcourse, is apart from the fact that he sports a very cool pony tail. I guess this also makes him the only Fortune 500 CEO to sport a pony tail. He has undertaken some serious measures to streamline the operations which includes laying off of around 5000 of its employees. Lets see if he can steer the company back to its lost glory.

Corporate blogging has come a long way. Gone are the days when blogging was considered a big taboo by the employers. More and more companies are encouraging their employees to blog. You can now see many people from comanies like Microsoft, Yahoo and even Google blogging away. I see two main advantages for the comanies:

1. It helps them have another channel to gather feedback on their products or services.
2. It greatly helps to change the perception. For example, Scobleizer's blog from microsoft helped a great deal to provide a human face to a company that was previously (and still) considered evil.

It will be interesting to see how this is going to evolve.

Dhritionary

Dhriti, my daughter, has a very cute way of pronouncing things. Since she has started some time back, we are having a hard time trying to comprehend the speed at which she starts using new words.

I have compiled a few of the words that she blabbers along with the way it is pronounced. I'm calling this "Dhritionary" and hope to update it on a periodic basis.

  • Kaathees – Cockroach. If you want to scare her, this is the right word.
  • Bisss – Tooth brush. You cant dare to take this away from her.
  • Baathil – Water bottle. Recently she has improvised this into a sentence – “Baathil iyyi ammmmaaa”
  • Chapaathi – Anything edible that’s flat and round. Even the omelet falls under this category
  • Duppatiii – Her blanket. She now has two of them now and nobody can dare so much as to even touch them
  • Shibaaa – Shiva. Yeah, that’s me. She has started to call me by the name.
  • Sidisha - Sirisha

  • Thaatha – KFC Logo. Anybody old is Thaatha but she loves the KFC colonel the most

The pilot

.....Or where it all started.

I dont know why I got this sudden urge to start blogging. I guess it has been at the back of my head for some time. Lets see how long I can sustain this interest.

Spent some time deciding between LJ and Blogger. Finally, the "google" factor made me go for Blogger.

So blogger world, here I come.....
